Residents Charter

Every resident has the right to expect the following:
  • To be treated with courtesy, respect and dignity at all times.
  • To be encouraged to fulfil their human, emotional, spiritual, religious and social needs.     
  • To be addressed as they wish.
  • To be safeguarded from discrimination on any grounds, whether it be age, disability, sex, race, language or religion.
  • To have privacy, independence and choice as far as practicable.
  • To live in a clean, comfortable and safe environment.
  • To be cared for by appropriately skilled staff and to be given a clear explanation of any treatment or care procedure.
  • To form and/or participate in, or speak at Residents' Committee Meetings.
  • To have access to their health care records and to know the staff have a duty to keep the contents confidential.
  • To be able to retain the doctor of their choice wherever possible.
  • To be encouraged to use the facilities available to other people living in the community and to be assisted to make this possible.
  • To be able to receive visitors at any reasonable time.
  • To have access to a telephone which may be used in private.
  • To be provided with a choice of high quality, appetising and nourishing food appropriate to individual dietary needs and personal wishes.
  • To be encouraged to participate in recreational activities, and to be given the opportunity to develop new hobbies and pastimes.
  • To be able to comment freely on or complain about any aspect of the service provided by the Home through informal or formal channels.
